I think I might have discovered a potential dive to add to the Fresno Bites rotation. Keith’s Boxcar Cafe opened around a month ago with little to no fanfare. Apparently this building in Fresno’s downtown industrial district has changed hands a few times. The previous owners may or may not have had good food but don’t let that scare you away. This time the guy that has taken it over has a bit of experience making good BBQ. I’ll let you ask him what local tri-tip sandwich kiosk he used to cook at.
Check out this fatty pulled pork sandwich!
The sandwich was loaded with meat, nicely topped with a house made slaw and a tangy BBQ sauce. Throw in some scratch made potato salad and a drink for only eight bucks and you’ve got a winner.
Keith’s doesn’t just offer BBQ. Check out their menu. They also have a small breakfast selection along with burgers and salads. While I can’t vouch for these items just yet, I did see a burger shaped and pressed straight from fresh ground beef right on the griddle. Maybe one of you reading this can go grab a cheeseburger and report back.

Nice! Gonna have to check that place out. That pork sandwich looks legit!
I couldn’t really complain. Check out his pit when you go too.
My girlfriends and I tried to eat here a few months back and the place was closed. Didn’t realize it has changed hands. Guess we’ll have to give it another try. It annoys me to go somewhere for lunch only to find it closed.
Completely different owner and menu. He also made some improvements to the decor. Only open until 3pm so go early!
Always meant to check this place out. Had no idea it closed and reopened. Will definitely try to get out there soon!
Yeah he’s doing a lot of stuff from scratch which excites me. He also has a huge smoker that he uses daily. Prices aren’t bad either.
Had a great pulled pork sandwich there on Tuesday. Delicious. Got to sample the chili verde which was also excellent.
I had a burger there a couple weeks back. It was pretty good. Defenately wanna try his breakfast burritos, hear they are pretty big.
