Just wanted to write a quick note about this locally owned establishment.
Casa de Tamales is one of the few speciality restaurants that actually does well at what they specialize in. What a novel idea. Nothing is worse than the coffee shop with bad coffee, the rib joint with terrible ribs, or the Chinese place with bad donuts (supposed to be a joke, duh).
Casa de Tamales makes the traditional items as well as desert tamales. Blueberry Cream Cheese and Triple Chocolate Cake for example. Today I had the Green Tomatillo Chicken and New Mexico Chile Pork. Both were excellent. Very moist and loaded with meat. Not like some places with their sandbox dry masa and the old lady from Wendy’s yelling “where’s the beef” tamales. They load them up and then top with scratch made sauce.
